Tracie Sewell is studying for her HND in Computing at the Wiltshire College, Trowbridge, franchised to The University of Bath, and has been awarded a 2002 BTEC Higher Nationals Student Prize.
| Tracie Sewell, like many mature students, left full time education at 16 with a scattering of O Levels and a report card full of “Could do better”. In her own words, Tracie “grew up in a part of Liverpool where nobody stayed on at school after 16”. Since leaving school and entering the world of work, Tracie realised that not only would further education aid her career progression but it would also help increase her self-esteem. Whilst Tracie found the course incredibly challenging, she refused to let this report card say “Could do better”. Her hard work has paid off, with her tutor acclaiming: “The quality and quantity of her work were prodigious; I can honestly say that to have a student who worked so hard and to such a high standard consistently is a very rare experience”. |
The prize is open to BTEC Higher National students at higher education institutions and was awarded by Edexcel for the seventh year in 2002 to over 40 university students.
