GCE

Question:Do I have to take the AS before the full Advanced GCE?
Answer:No, you don’t have to. You can take the six Advanced GCE units in stages, or together at the end of the course.
  

Advanced Extension Award

Question:What is an Advanced Extension Award (AEA)?
Answer:AEAs are targeted at the top 10% of Advanced GCE students. Each AEA gives these students the chance to fully demonstrate their skills and understanding.
  
Question:How are AEAs graded?
Answer:Unlike Advanced GCEs, AEAs are graded either Merit or Distinction.
  
Question:What subjects are available?
Answer:Edexcel offers AEAs in History, Mathematics, Religious Studies and Spanish. For other subjects, please go to the QCA website.
  

VCE

Question:Is a VCE worth the same as a GCE?
Answer:Yes, they both have the same value
  
Question:How are VCEs different from GCEs?
Answer:VCEs have more assessed coursework and fewer exams than GCEs, to reflect the more practical nature of them
  
Question:Are there AS VCEs?
Answer:There are 3 unit awards available in the following subjects: Business; Engineering; Health & Social Care; ICT
  
Question:Can you choose which units to study?
Answer:Every VCE has a number of option units. You can choose the ones that you’re most interested in
