Please make certain that course teams in your centre are using the correct, official BTEC specification and that your centre has the required Edexcel approval to operate the relevant BTEC programme.
Centres should only use the final, authorised specification and have written approval from Edexcel before teaching or assessing any BTEC qualification. It has come to our notice, through national standards sampling activities by our External Verifiers, that some centres are using unofficial or draft specifications or do not have written authority from Edexcel to offer specific BTEC qualifications. Certain centres have, in consequence, failed national standards sampling, and that Edexcel was unable to certificate these learners.
The Final Specification for each qualification is published on our website (and subsequently published also in printed format) as soon as possible following accreditation. Prior to QCA accreditation we place a pre-accreditation Draft Specification on the relevant qualification page. The Draft Specification is clearly marked as such, and must not be used for teaching or assessment purposes.
