Common Principles – Access Arrangements and Special Consideration
In 2004 three of the major awarding bodies – OCR, City & Guilds and Edexcel launched ‘eight pledges’ to fight bureaucracy. This was a commitment by the awarding bodies to work together to streamline and harmonise processes over a three year rolling programme (2005-2008), making administration and management in the further education sector simpler and easier. Since then considerable advances have been made and the number of awarding bodies signing up now includes WJEC and AQA. Pledge 8 concerns common access arrangements and the first output of this pledge is a Common Principles document

Dida Qualifications form
Examination Officers should note that Access Arrangements for DiDA qualifications are delegated to examination centres as per Entry Level Qualifications. This decision has been based on the principle that the centre is required to have determined the needs of the candidate within the normal classroom situation and in light of those arrangements which have to be made as part of the normal working practices. The arrangements granted to candidates must not interfere with the integrity of the assessment or to give credit for skills which cannot be performed by the candidate. The attached form should be duly completed at the time of the examination and forwarded to Special Requirements, Edexcel, One90 High Holborn, London WC1V 7BH.
