Hundreds of occupations in the public and private sectors require employees who have knowledge of the law and legal procedures such as compliance officers, NHS claims advisors, legal secretaries, law clerks and contracts managers.
The BTEC Awards in Law and Legal Work are designed to provide:
- An introduction to, and understanding, of law
- Knowledge in specialist areas of law such as Criminal Law and Civil Litigation
- The opportunity to gain nationally recognised and vocationally specific Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications
- A framework for development and progression onto higher levels or professional law courses
These short courses are supported by both the Commission for Racial Equality and the Institute of Paralegals as an important way of increasing diversity in, and access to, the legal profession. The Department for Constitutional Affairs has warmly welcomed the BTECs for the same reasons.
