New NVQs for IT Users, IT Practitioners and IT Professionals

We are pleased to announce that we have received accreditation for the NVQs for Practitioners at levels 1 and 2 and NVQs for Professionals at level 3. These complement the recently accredited NVQs for IT Users at level 1 to 3 and completes our offering of the innovative new NVQs in Information Technology.

The following NVQs, have been accredited by QCA:

• Edexcel Level 1 NVQ for IT Users
• Edexcel Level 1 NVQ for IT Practitioners
• Edexcel Level 2 NVQ for IT Users
• Edexcel Level 2 NVQ for IT Practitioners
• Edexcel Level 3 NVQ for IT Users
• Edexcel Level 3 NVQ for IT Professionals

These NVQs are based on the new National Occupational Standards and were developed in partnership with employers to ensure their needs are met. 

They replace the following NVQs:

• Using IT Levels 1-3
• Developing IT Programs Level 2
• Operating IT Systems Levels 2 - 3
• Developing IT Systems Level 3
• Installing and Supporting IT Systems Levels 2 - 3

We are not replacing the following:

• Developing IT Systems Level 4
• Managing IT Systems Level 4
• Developing IT Systems Level 4
  

The new NVQs are innovative in design and allow greater flexibility to match units and levels to meet particular employer and candidate needs. In addition they have streamlined assessment and portfolio production processes to give centres, employers and candidates a more manageable programme to administer and undertake.
 
New features

• New Unit structure, terminology and updated content
• Structure of qualification flexible to adapt to individuals and employers’ needs, including availability of units at differing levels
• Streamlined procedures
• New and less bureaucratic assessment strategy including the use of expert witnesses.
• Focus on new ways of collecting evidence, including paperless logbooks
• Cross-awarding body recognition of qualifications for the accreditation of prior achievement (APA) through an e-skills database
• IT Practitioners and Professionals can access some of the IT User units.
