As you may be aware, the QCA has requested that all awarding bodies indicate GCE and GCSE fees ahead of the point at which choice is made in centres. We think that this is a sensible initiative and we have set the fees that will apply for the 2008/9 entry.

We have limited all of our price increases to 3% or less, and we have reduced the price of restructured GCEs by 8% in line with actual cost savings.

Competitive prices for the new Diploma and for other vocational qualifications will be published as soon as full cost information is available.

We urge you to think carefully about your choice of awarding body. For years we have had to live with a stubbornly persistent poor overall level of attainment, particularly at GCSE, with about half of all students failing to gain five good grades. ResultsPlus, e-Spec, Ask the Expert and the incredible level of developing support from Edexcel will provide teachers with the means to dramatically improve student performance across all grades.
