The Secretary of State for Education has announced the withdrawal of coursework from GCSE mathematics for two-year courses that commence from September 2007 and one-year courses that commence from September 2008.

Edexcel is awaiting the final timeline for the withdrawal and advice on the new requirements for a non-coursework GCSE in mathematics. When these become available, Edexcel will inform centres via the website. Following this advice, new specifications and sample assessment material will be developed and then published on our website and sent to all centres. In developing new specifications and sample assessment material, every effort will be made to make the fewest changes possible.
