ESOL Level 1 (Speaking and Listening)

The Level 1 Speaking and Listening qualification is offered either as a stand-alone qualification or as a mode of the full certificate. Assessment is via a paper-based test, which can be taken on demand when the learner is ready for assessment. There is no portfolio requirement.

Centres are required to register candidates on the ESOL Level 1 Speaking and Listening programme if the candidates are required to complete only the Speaking and Listening qualification.

Where candidates successfully achieve the Speaking and Listening unit, but are registered on the full ESOL programme, certification for the Speaking and Listening unit as a separate qualification will not be issued.
