14/01/2008    Are you a budding poet?

On Friday 18 January Edexcel will be organising a one day event as part of this year’s GCSE Poetry Live! This is available for all schools taking Edexcel English 1203/1204 or English literature 1213. The primary aim is to inspire students and improve literacy skills.

On the day many exciting poets will take to the stage at Shaftesbury theatre in London to read their work to an audience of budding poets. The poets who will be taking to the stage are Gillian Clarke, John Agard, Grace Nichols, Moniza Alvi and Jackie Kay.

Throughout the day Edexcel’s chief examiner Pam Taylor will give feedback and top ten tips to English literature students to increase their chances in their exams.

Up to a thousand students and teachers are expected to attend. The entry fee is £13.50 per pupil and a free teacher place is given for every ten students who attend. Places are limited so please place your booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. You can do this by calling 01745 814 214, emailing info@poetrylive.net or send a fax to 01745 814 395.
