Congratulations to Warren Banfield and Jan Willem Scheltinga Koopman who were last night presented with 2008 Sussex Spring Awards. Both were presented with their awards at a special ceremony at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.
This year Edexcel sponsored two of the Sussex Spring Award categories: BTEC Learner of the Year and BTEC HNC/HND Learner of the Year.
Warren Banfield won the BTEC Learner of the Year and Jan Willem Scheltinga Koopman won the BTEC HNC/HND Learner of the Year.
Congratulations also to the runners-up in the BTEC Learner of the Year Award, Alexandra McLoughlin and Kimberley Bailey.
Nominees had to demonstrate commitment to study, a level of success and achievement in their chosen field, provide evidence that their learning experience had a positive impact on their lives, and evidence they had overcome challenges.
The Sussex Spring Awards were developed to promote achievement in Sussex, giving recognition to learners, employers and training providers.
Mayang Ahmad, project co-ordinator for award organisers FE Sussex, said: “More and more people have come to recognise the significant advantages of continued learning and skills improvement, particularly in the working environment; it’s these people that we feel should be recognised and praised for their achievements.”
