27/02/2008    Training helps in an emergency

Claire Tinker is a paramedic with the London Ambulance Service, who has managed to find time, outside the demands of her role, to take part in a new series of adverts for the awarding body Edexcel.

The campaign, which highlights real people who have benefited from training with Edexcel, includes a police officer, a security supervisor and a human resources director who all know the value of, and have gained from, doing tailor made qualifications or courses.

Keeping pace with new theories and technologies can be what saves lives in Claire’s everyday work.  As she says, “the treatments and technologies we use develop all the time but the specialised training organised by Edexcel makes it easy to keep up to date.”

Apart from aiding the sector as a whole, this type of specific help can be useful to individuals as well, allowing them to continue improving while at work.  Training is always vital to, as Claire puts it, “move my career forward.”

It’s expected that using real workers in ordinary but indispensable jobs will draw attention to the advantages and importance of continuous learning, no matter what the age or position within the organisation or company.
