27/02/2008    New ad campaign shows importance of training

Amanda Garnham is an assessment centre manager for Swindon Borough Council, and currently features in a new series of adverts for the awarding body Edexcel.

The series, which depicts real people who have benefited from training with Edexcel, includes a police offer, a security supervisor and a member of the ambulance service who all know the value of, and have gained from, doing tailor made qualifications or courses.

Amanda knows how important keeping up to date is.  The ever changing environment of the office calls for dynamism and a willingness to learn. “The workplace is increasingly challenging for our personnel.  Fast technologies and methodologies make giving our people cutting edge training ever more important.”

This training is aimed to benefit the individual as well as the business.  Amanda adds that learning at work helps to “Move our organisation and careers forward.”  It is about setting up frameworks where “learning becomes a pleasure.”  This is a valuable asset to make work based learning attractive to employees.

Edexcel believes using real workers in ordinary but indispensable jobs will draw attention to the advantages and importance of continuous learning, no matter what the age or position within the company.
