Edexcel's 360Science chosen for flag-ship series for Discovery
Edexcel's 360Science specification was chosen by the scientists who have been tutoring students for a new flagship six–part series for Discovery. The Big Experiment takes a class of teenagers and explodes their misconceptions about science. Three of the country’s most passionate scientists, physicist Dr Laura Grant, Cambridge chemist Dr Peter Wothers, and dare-devil lab technician Chris Brackstone, swapped academia for a failing school in one of London’s toughest boroughs in an attempt to turn around the group’s attitudes, and get them through the Edexcel science GCSE eighteen months early.
No ordinary science lesson, the series sees the kids leaping off a 50-foot scaffold suspended only by helium balloons and climbing into a phone box to be struck by the full force of a 400,000 volt lightning strike. But will they make it? Budding Astronomer and celebrity Myleene Klass is on hand to reveal the exam results and to find out if science has the power to change the way they look at the world and their future.
The programme starts Thursday 6 March on Discovery at 9pm, repeated Sundays at 5pm.
