Edexcel launched a new qualification at the Harold Riley Suite, University of Salford, Manchester on Thursday 21 June. 

The event gave employers the opportunity to meet training providers and other professionals offering training in the event support and security sectors.

The Edexcel Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety provides a nationally recognised competence-based qualification appropriate to the work of stewards and marshals in spectator events, especially events taking place within sports stadia and entertainment venues.

Complementing Edexcel’s existing suite of security and event support qualifications, it will enable employers to develop staff in this important role, giving recognition of their skills, knowledge and understanding.

The qualification has been developed from the National Occupational Standards. The standards, Assessment Strategy and award structure in Spectator Safety are owned by SkillsActive.

Progression from the Edexcel Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety can be in to employment as a steward or a marshal, or on to related qualifications, including the BTEC Award in Event Support, BTEC Award in Door Supervision or the BTEC Award in Conflict Management.
