Well done to those named in birthday honours list
Congratulations to all those given awards for services to education in this year’s birthday honours.
Educationalists made up nine percent of the total list, announced by the Cabinet Office on Saturday 16 June 2007.
Edexcel would like to extend particular congratulations to:
- Professor David Melville from the University of Kent, who serves on Edexcel’s Board and has received a knighthood;
- Peter Saunders from the Governing Body of Mid-Kent College who has received an MBE;
- Tony Thomas from the Field Studies Council who is Chair of Edexcel’s A Level Geography and has received an OBE;
- Ian Thorington from Guildford College who has received an MBE; and
- Dr Geoffrey Copland from the University of Westminster who has received a CBE.
Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel’s Managing Director, said: “I am delighted to see that so many people involved in education have been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours. All of them help advance learning and make a profound difference to peoples’ lives through education.
"Edexcel would like to congratulate all of those given an honour and thank them for their contribution to education and skills in the UK”.
