30/04/2007    Exam success! Audio downloads to boost exam performance

Students revising for their forthcoming GCSE and A level exams will soon be able to download revision tips and exam techniques to their MP3/MP4 devices.

A new survey has revealed that over 72 per cent of parents of GCSE and A level students said that their children worried about not having revised enough for their exams.  The same amount (70%) said that they would encourage their children to learn relaxation, confidence-boosting and motivational techniques to help them perform better in their exams, which start on 14 May 2007.

Edexcel's Exam Success! series has been written and produced by Michael Heppell, the best-selling author of How to Be Brilliant.  The series features innovative confidence-boosting, motivation and relaxation ideas, techniques, advice and guidance aimed at helping students can maximise their potential for revision and exam performance.

Michael said: “It’s about helping to change the mindset of young people approaching exams, by teaching them techniques to maximise their knowledge recall and bring out the very best in themselves in their exams.”

Available to download from Edexcel’s student-dedicated website, Examzone, each Exam Success! session is around five minutes long and can be played from a computer or MP3 device.  Exam Success! sessions cost just 79 pence – equivalent to a music download.

In the same survey, commissioned by Edexcel and carried out by Tickbox.net, 81 per cent of parents said that they believed that the internet was where students would go first to research information for their exams, while 77 per cent said their children actively downloaded audio and video files to MP3/MP4 devices.

Visit  Examzone to download a free introduction.  In addition, an interview with Michael Heppell about the project, will be available to view as a webchat.
