![]() | Edexcel is again donating money to charity instead of sending company Christmas cards. Following a staff poll in 2006, an Edexcel Bursary was set up with the Helena Kennedy Foundation to run for three years from 2007 to provide funding for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to re-enter further or higher education supported by Edexcel through a BTEC route. |
In 2007 a £6,000 donation was made and the HKF held their Awards Ceremony in October at which the Edexcel beneficiaries were present. A further £6,000 for 2008 will be made in December to the HKF.
Baroness Kennedy said: “On behalf of all our students, I am delighted that Edexcel, one of the founding partners of my charity, is making such a generous ongoing commitment to our work in developing the vocational skills base of some of the most disadvantaged students in society.
“This support will enable BTEC students to complete their FE studies and hopefully progress to on to the final year of a degree course and ensure that practical and creative talent is put to good use for the benefit of us all.”
