Examinations Key Dates Calendar
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Examinations Key Dates Calendar, a web based tool that provides key exam dates from the five Awarding Bodies that offer General Qualifications. The qualifications included are GCE, GCSE, GNVQ, AEA, ELC, FSMQ, STEP and VCE. Key dates for the 2005-2006 academic year will be available from January 2006 and key dates for 2006-2007 will be entered in the tool by July 2006.
Features of the Examinations Key Dates Calendar
A simple log-in gives access to the site and users can customise the information displayed, selecting qualification types, Awarding Bodies, exam series and date ranges. Preferences are saved when logging in again and can also easily be changed at any time.
The tool includes two main types of key dates: deadlines for centres to submit information to the Awarding Bodies and dates when information will be released by the Awarding Bodies.
A search function allows users to narrow down the type of information displayed, e.g., by typing “ent” to show key dates related to entries.
Users can add personal date items to remind themselves of other upcoming events or deadlines.
The Calendar can be downloaded to Excel, saved and printed.
Users can register for email alerts that are sent when any dates are added or changed.
A comprehensive online help guide explains all the features.
Benefits of the Examinations Key Dates Calendar
Exams Officers will be able to see key exam dates relating to all Awarding Bodies offering general qualifications in one place.
The tool will save Exams Officers time that was previously taken up in finding out, confirming and compiling key dates from across the Awarding Bodies.
Being able to access all key dates in this tool will enable Exams Officers to proactively plan work schedules and resources and will provide peace of mind, especially for new Exams Officers, that they will not miss any exams deadlines simply because of lack of awareness.
The alert function means that Exams Officers can always be confident that the dates they are working towards are accurate as they will be automatically notified of any changes made by the Awarding Bodies.
