This year, instead of sending Christmas cards, Edexcel has, for the third year running, decided to donate £5,000 to charity.

The chosen charity is the Children's Appeal, which supports the work of Sheffield Children's Hospital. We have chosen this charity because of its strong links with children.

The hospital, which celebrated its 125th birthday in November 2001, has launched an appeal to raise funds to carry out medical research and to improve ancillary facilities for children who have to attend the hospital.

The £5,000 will support the hospital's "No Christmas Card" appeal and a cheque was presented at the hospital by Garry Hawkes CBE on Friday 30th November.
