For AS/A Level and Vocational A Level Teachers and Lecturers of Business Studies and Economics

The Conference is designed to help teachers and lecturers make finance a more interesting and absorbing subject for their students. It will provide a chance to:

  • update delegates on significant issues relating to the teaching of finance
  • listen to prominent speakers from the world of finance
  • attend two workshops selected from the following list:

    - Careers in the finance industry
    - Teaching the AS/A level Business Studies finance components
    - Edexcel business and economics qualifications - what do we offer?
    - The FSA Post 14 learning materials
    - The 2 point 5 Interest Rate Bank of England/Times student competition
    - AVCE Business - teaching the tested unit 5 Business Finance
    - Finance in practice - a case study of finance in a large organisation.

Speakers will include:

How does monetary policy work?

Ms Sarah Smith - Head of Economics of Financial Regulation, Financial Services Authority
The role of the financial regulator

Mr Nick Boyde - Project Co-ordinator, New World Headquarters, HSBC
